Coffee Shops Round Up

coffee and cake at Subspace Coffee

The allure of coffee shops. While most of my friends would prefer milk tea shops as their favorite hang out place, I'd prefer the warm embrace of cafes and coffee shops. I find majority of the milk tea places too casual and too open (with the kiosk-like ambiance) for me to feel really relax and to warrant any privacy for me to enjoy whatever I ordered. With the exception of a few, like Saint's Alp Teahouse and some branches of Serenitea, most of these milk tea shops are either right smack in the middle of an alleyway inside the mall or positioned right beside a supermarket where passersby could easily ogle at you and your food. Something I find a little irksome especially if I'm feeling anti-social.

But cafes offers coziness and comfortability that I just keep coming back to. Plus, I'm a self-proclaimed caffeine addict. Here are some of the coffee shops and cafes that I recently enjoyed visiting.

It's Not Cheap... It's Affordable

My friend Pau often accuses me of always eating at fancy places. He knows that I usually dine out during my off days and when I updated him of where I set my buns and pack my calories, he would always reply (as if it's already a set template), "Pang-mayaman na naman ang lugar." I oftentimes retort that I only order the lowest priced items on the menu to shun his satiric comments but that would instigate him some more. The friends I have, really. =)

FACE-OFF: Flat Whites & Latte Arts

flat white & cake at Cafeccino By Dome

I first heard about the existence of a coffee beverage variant called flat white via Dessert Comes First. I was quite intrigued by it and the word "flat white" has a mysterious appeal to me. So, I set about on trying this out on the two cafes Lori's site has recommended where you could get this type of caffeine beverage.

McCafé Is Where My Heart Is

mccafe

I'm always enamored with McCafé. There was never a time that I didn't enjoyed their beverages (either hot or cold) or their pastries (both savory and sweet) they offered. So, when I first learned that the newly renovated McDonald's store in Greenhills was finally open, in spite of the impending rain (Quiel, is that you?) I went there just to see how different this store from any other McDonald's store we have in the metro.
