Soft, muted lighting. Earth tone colors. A restaurant that's very masculine in appearance with a very laid back vibe but the ladies were not put off with a dash of floral accents thrown into the picture. They said Borough tries to imbibe the look and feel of a typical New York diner. I'm wont to believe that even if I haven't been to New York. So, imagine my profound excitement when I finally set foot here together with my friends, Pam and Harris, to try out what they call "New York comfort food".
The Baked Mac & Cheese that we ordered as a side dish was truly outstanding. It's a cheese feast with Gruyere, cheddar and mozzarella thrown into the mix. Stringy cheese with a sharp-salty taste. Butter was also added that gave it that beautiful shiny finish. We couldn't get enough of it.
Harris, who seem to be on a pasta roll that night ordered another one of its liking in the form of the Rigatoni Ala Vodka. Large fluted noodles caressed by a creamy tomato sauce. There's a hint of spice to this pasta dish, too, that would made you want pick up your fork and pierce one large noodle after another.

But the star of our meal were our burger orders. We really admired the presentation. Our ordered burgers were placed on a chopping board with a brown placemat on which a charming map of I deemed to be of New York City was drawn onto. Adding up to it's appeal was the brown paper bag where the oh-so-delicious fries was placed. Very clever, indeed!
Pam decided to have their bestseller which is the All-Beef Cheeseburger. Pam thought of having it prepared well done but I suggested to have it cooked medium well instead. One of the better burger out there. Pam and I appreciated that they really didn't scrimp on the cheese. Since I love anything with a little bit of spice, I ordered the Chili Chicken Burger. A profusion of Monterey Jack that covered the entire chicken burger that's quite succulent with the corn salsa tumbled about. The brioche bun that they've used was really of superb quality, if I might add. The heat on this burger was provided by the few slices of red hot chili peppers but was somehow subdued by the avocado and herbal mayo dressing.
Of course, ending a meal with a dessert is a must on my list. Even if we're already full by the time were almost through with our own separate meals, I still have tummy room for the Brooklyn Cheesecake. A delightfully sweet and citrusy cheesecake that makes a perfect partner to it's gritty graham crust base. What a way to end our Big Apple gastronomic feast.
Again, thank you to Pam and Harris for sharing awesome meal with me at Borough. I equally enjoyed watching the final installment of Breaking Dawn with you guys. 'Till then! ;)
