How I Celebrated My Birthday (Last Part)

panizze at Mona Lisa Ristorante

Of course, celebrating this special day with my friends wouldn't just end at eating an outstanding dinner at Kettle. I also wanted to spend some time to chill with them over drinks. The original plan was to knock down some Paulaner beer at Brotzeit but I came across this post by Richard Co of Tales From The Tummy about a cozy hang out place that offers quite an impressive selection of cocktails near Ortigas Home Depot called Detalle. I broach the idea to my friends if they want to check out the place and they agreed instantly.

A Walk in Maginhawa

Image
food at Friuli Trattoria

This visit to Maginhawa Street in Teacher's Village, Quezon City was spurred by Sebastian's Ice Cream head sorbetero Ian Carandang status update---with pics to boot (Yes, I'm currently subscribed to Mr. Carandang's social media updates) of this new all-day breakfast place in the area. Pumped up with so much excitement, I scurry my butt there in haste right after work. Adrenaline in full swing, I could almost feel my heart doing it's tub-thumping as I walk the front pavement of the restaurant. But nobody attends to me the full ten minutes that I was inside the restaurant. I walked over to the the rack where the laminated 'soft-opening' menus were placed to show the waitstaff that I'm interested in dining there. But one of the male staff only offered me a goofy smile and continued with whatever his doing. I walked back to the table where I was seated prior, already feeling a little flustered. The conversation happening on the adjacent table from where I am is like a slow hum counterpointing with the buzzing sound I seem to hear inside my head. My shoulders slumped and my previously felt surge of emotions came crashing down. Feeling like a defeated soldier, I went out. Feet scuffling heavily.

Craving For A Little Bit Of Italian Flair

polleto & pumpkin soup

I haven't been to Robinsons Magnolia since August of last year so one lazy Saturday afternoon I came up with the decision it's high time that I paid this mall another visit. I've been meaning to try back Magnolia Flavor House for their savory items aside from their other ice cream concoctions, but the place was menacingly crowded upon my arrival. So I decided to wonder around for a bit.

Caviar On Pasta & Crispy Tiramisu

dessets at Cibo

Believe it or not, this visit to Cibo was only my second. My very first visit with a friend of mine I only tried the panini sandwiches and those were the Praga and the Panino Porchetta. So when deciding on which resto I would dine right after the New Year revelry, Cibo was my easiest choice.

An Italian Espresso Bar

food at segafredo zanetti

The heat of the afternoon sun is starting to get unbearable. Our feet already felt tired because of constant walking. My mind is on a chaotic state, listless and ambling to and fro with no clear direction. I looked at my two other companions, grim-faced and sweltering under the beat of the sun. Not sure if they also share the gale of emotions I felt at that moment. But one thing remained paramount, we need to be fed.

Dome Cafe & Cafeccino By Dome: Luscious Moments

two exceptional cakes

(Note: This is more like a continuation of my previous post. )

Right after our satisfying meal in Cookbook Kitchen, we (Jhen, Darlene & Diselle with two of her office mates) all decided (I might add, with much apprehension) to try out this horror house propped in the middle of Eastwood City Walk. The horror house was inspired by the hit movie Zombadings: Patayin Sa Shokot Si Remington by Jade Castro (who also directed the critically acclaimed Endo and My Big Love), thus the horror house was aptly named Shokot House

Lusso Is Synonymous To Love

Demi-Pound Foie Gras Burger2

Makati has become my "unofficial" playground when it comes to food trip explorations over the past months. It seems every month I see new food finds sprouting out of nowhere in this gargantuan business district. However, I just discovered today, Makati was not as exciting in weekends compared to the very hectic weekdays teeming with yuppies and working professionals.
