@ sandwicheese |
The magnificent duo that I'm referring to would be Banapple and its newest baby, Sandwicheese. When Banapple first posted on their Facebook page about this sandwich place, I got really excited. Especially when they also posted a picture showing Sandwicheese is only right beside Banapple One, I couldn't help but placed a comment of my plan to visit this sandwich place which actually materialized just recently.

As I went inside the sandwich place, I was immediately struck by how cute the place is. The dining area is quite small but charming nevertheless which made my long walk along Katipunan Ave., under drizzling rain all worth it. I'm so sure my nephews and nieces would also fall in love with this place. Especially those adorable bread models with quirky faces on them tacked on the walls.

pretty green tea slush |
|
potato salad |
For my drink, I tried the Pretty Green Tea Slush (P80.00) which very much reminded me of Honey Dew Lemon Soda by Sango The Master Burger in appearance. I hope there will be an upsize version of their slushies in the future since its really, really good and refreshing. I also tried their Potato Salad (P90.00) wherein I find the serving quite hefty for its price. A real steal. It's also quite filling, as well.

to add spice to your life |
Of course, I would have to try one of their sandwicheese. The one that I've picked was the Hickory Shredded Pork (P160.00). If there is a beauty contest among sandwiches offered in the metro, this sandwich may not bag the crown for sandwich photogenic but the taste, the flavor would made this sandwich a runaway winner. The sweet, smoky flavor of the hickory pork really made my mouth water; and those cheese...oh, there's so much of it that it covered the entire sandwich with some of it clung possessively to its wrapper. The way leeches may cling, I presume, to its prey. I forgo the utensils right away and got ready to be messy. I was so enamored with this sandwich that I texted some friends, even posted on my Facebook account how I'm lovin' this sandwicheese.
You also have an option to put some spice to your sandwich: chili flakes or Caramba Chili Rojo which, surprisingly, I find the spiciness of this chili sauce very benign for me to utter "Caramba!"

banapple one which is only right next door |
Since Sandwicheese didn't have any dessert on their menu, (or so I thought since I didn't spy any on their menu) I head over to its next door neighbor, Banapple, for my sweet cravings.

hope cheesecake |

white chocolate truffle berry cheesecake |

cafe latte |
I had a grand time trying out their sweets. The Hope Cheesecake was first introduced last Christmas season and good thing that they keep it to be part of their regular cake offerings. Its a fudgy chocolate cheesecake with candied pecans, creamy custard on a crunchy chocolate crust. Yummy! Their latest, the White Chocolate Truffle Berry Cheesecake is a very feminine cheesecake with a motley crew of stewed strawberries, strawberry whipped cream, cookie crumble on a graham-crust base topped with shavings of white chocolate. The cookie crumble very much reminded me of the butter cookies of my childhood. Both cakes are so good I can't choose which one is my favorite. I also had a cup of Cafe Latte with a latte art that resembled a clover leaf. What a way to end a wonderful meal.

sandwicheese! |
|
banapple one |
I so much enjoyed the sandwich that I tried in Sandwicheese that I would surely be back for more. Possibly to try their Roast Beef Sandwicheese and their newest offerings: fries (crinkle-cut, seasoned and boulder) and a pasta dish (pasta bolognese). And of course, I would never leave the vicinity without first getting a quick dessert fix at Banapple.
